Can you regrow a chipped tooth?

Very interesting question. About 15 years ago, I chipped one of my front teeth, the chip was located at the back part of the tooth, which started coming off but was still held together, like a hinge, with an overlap of the tooth below it. Not easy to describe, but basically it was still attached at the bottom "hinge".

I was not in an area to have it fix anytime soon, so I superglued it to the front section and held it together until it set in an effort to save the tooth until I could get to a dentist. When I arrived at the dentist, he said that apparently it was holding and I never gave it another thought until last Fri. when the chip came off in my mouth (no longer attached by the hinge effect).

I tried to get an appointment with a local dentist, but on Fri, it was impossible, so I opted to call on Monday. Yesterday I found a few posts online that talked about regrowing teeth, so I started to think about it, since I am a little worried the dentist will want to grind it down and put a cap on it. One guy basically said, he had chipped his teeth over the years and never thought to go to the dentist because they always grow back. And there are stories that Monks grow their teeth back.

I also find that there is a process being developed that will hit the market in a year or two for growing teeth using ultrasound. Now, I am no Monk, but I am interested in regrowing my tooth rather than destroying what is left, since it is not cosmetically visible (the back part of the lower front tooth) So I am going to give it a try and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Please leave any info or comments, I am going to need some support, there is the big question as to how long it might take also! Wish me luck.

Have you experienced any regrowth yet? It has been about a year since you posted this.

I did a google search about regrowing teeth, and found this article very informative.

I hope your tooth is doing better!

Any signs of new tooth? What methods have you tried to get the regrowth?

So far the tooth has gotten thicker and stronger and then gotten weaker and thinner, but I cannot say that it is growing back. The changes in the thick and thinnest I observe seem directly related to when I am taking mineral (thicker) and not (thinner) But the tooth feels strong still. I believe it will not happen overnight and have not given up. As long as it is functional, I want to wait to see a little longer and from what I read in your blog, it definitely is possible. So I will be looking for the device when it is released! Excellent article. Thanks

I'm doing the same thing with a chipped tooth I have. I'd like to regrow two I had pulled, but first things first I guess.

Ok, here is the update. The tooth never regrew, though I did find it was getting stronger and weaker as I mentioned before.

In my search for answers I came across this AMAZING book which changes my whole concept of feeding the human body and I plan to write a blog about what lightbulbs have gone off and my conclusions. I definitely want to recommend the book: Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities with Nutrition

Hi,
Your story is very important. And I would like to share mine. I bit a stone in eating and had my tooth, #5 cracked vertically, all the way to the root I believe. I did not use the tooth for a month due to the great pain. Now the tooth can bite soft breads while it is loose. The crack is very thin and cannot be seen by x-rays.

Two dentists said it should be extracted. But I want to watch for a few months to see whether the crack can be somehow closed or repaired by my tooth and body system itself.

When I was around 15 years old, I chipped my lower left front tooth - a very prominent one, seen every day whenever you open your mouth. The chipped tooth was not a jagged edge, but was a smooth, clean break that went diagonally from the center on the top on my tooth down toward the other front tooth. This is an adult tooth that was chipped, not a baby tooth.

After all these years (about 25 now) that same tooth is now completely even with the other lower front tooth. Not only that, but the enamel (which dentist around the world all claim cannot happen) is present on every part of that tooth. In all my years, I have only had 3 dental corrections done - wisdom teeth removed (about a year after joining the Navy), had a minor cavity filled in 1 molar (in boot camp for the Navy) and another molar fixed due to a cavity about 4 years ago. Throughout my life I have never been the healthiest of eaters, so diet isn't really a factor. I don't brush my teeth at all. I don't use any form of exotic stimuli. The only things I can say that is out of the ordinary for me is that when I get sick (with the cold or flu) it's for an extremely short amount of time compared to other people...24 to 48 hours at most and that I heal REALLY fast.

In 2002 I had bi-lateral carpal tunnel release surgery (both hands at the same time) on Feb 4th. I was cleared to go back to work from my physical therapist by March 1st - less than 4 weeks later.

My point I am trying to make is that teeth and enamel can regrow perfectly fine on their own. Perhaps not everyone can do this, but it is physically possible given the right circumstances. Both of my parents have tons of fillings for cavities that had been filled over the years, so genetically, I am prone to getting tooth decay, but I appear to have beaten the odds on this.

I love your story! Yes, in Chinese Medicine we believe that your "Original Qi" are passed on from your parents, which can be better or worse depending on their health at the time of your conception.
So it is possible that though your parents did not have the best teeth, that might not be your fate at that particular time.

I also have found that some people have, for example, thicker hair than others of the same family and food source, so there is something else at play.

I do see people with poor, broken teeth that have never grown back, so you may be very unusual. It is also understood that when someone recovers from colds or injuries more quickly than others, that their immune system is stronger.

Also, at age 15, you are still able to grow (maybe even teeth). Myself, I grew in height about 1 more inch at the age of 25 after a long period of not growing at all.

Something else to consider... I know someone that until the age of about 80, they never had antibiotic and throughout their life, when they said they never felt sick for long and always healed quickly. After antibiotics, they have a myriad of issues with their health, including teeth problems they never had before.

I believe our own intestinal flora is much more efficient if it has never been disturbed by antibiotics. Even with probiotics and prebiotic therapy after antibiotic use, it seems the system never comes back to the way it was originally. We know a lot about the body, but some things are still unknown by science.

My front tooth chipped today in sort of the same fashion as yours. The backside 'hinged' part only. Where the gum underneath the tooth is now slightly exposed. Dark red in color. It feels soo weird to feel with my tongue! But this is NOT the first time this has happened. I experienced this with another frontal tooth just last year. It had also seemed like a very brittle weakened hinged part at the backside end. After the chip, there was a light layer of black i noticed ON the underside of the tooth, I then was holding. With this one it's the same.

With this one, I checked all my front teeth (as I always do to SEE what is going on) and all my teeth are currently touching my gum (except for the newest chip).

Very strange! Now I wonder if my mind is playing tricks on me and this may be the same exact tooth that chipped last year or if it did grow back a little to touch the gum again. I didn't take pictures or write the situation down, it's only by memory.

I'm hoping it's entirely possible for the regrowth! I will be documenting this one so I don't forget. Thanks for the post!

I have chipped a piece off a bottom rear tooth on a metal tongue ring which grew back.

I have now chipped an upper rear tooth chewing on hard candy. Chipped the pointy part which left a hole like crater. 1 week later the whole is now full. And a new pointy part if forming from within the hole.

I attribute it too all the chocolate and iced coffee I consume.

I'd just like to add that I once had a whole in one of my molars near the gum (which I could feel and see). My dentist told me I needed to have it filled ASAP before it got any bigger. Unfortunately I had neither dental benefits nor the cash to have it filled. I simply prayed to Jesus that the tooth would regenerate or in the very least not get any worse before I could afford to fix it. A while ago I went to look for the whole but its nowhere to be found. I even dig around in there a little to see if I can find the cavity but NOTHING!! So I definitely believe that regrowing a tooth is possible (especially through God :-D ). And fyi I've read dome great things about magnesium oil fortifying tooth enamel so that may be worth a try as well, especially for those whose teeth have become transparent. Blessing to all!

*** I had a "hole" in my molar, not a "whole" lol. I'm sure you all understood but considering the fact that my bachelor's degree is in English I just couldn't let that slide lol

Chipped tooth can be repaired if treated under expert dentist. Treatment for a broken or chipped tooth will depend on how severely it is damaged. If only a small piece of enamel broke off, the repair can usually be done simply in one office visit. A badly damaged or broken tooth may require a more lengthy and costly procedure. Here are some ways your dentist may repair your broken or chipped tooth. There are many dental clinics in India which are offering great services to the patients coming from all the parts of the world.

Even though the enamel that covers our teeth is the strongest tissue in our body, it can still chip, crack or fracture. If you have a chipped tooth, it's important to see a dentist as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

I chipped a bottom back molar tooth a few months ago. It's a big enough hole but I have tried my best to keep it clean. I experienced a bit of discomfort a few weeks ago but I used cloves in warm water, salt in warm water and activated powered charcoal to help clean and sooth the tooth everyday. So far it has worked. I can see a bit of the tooth in the gum where it hasn't completely come away from the root. I really do not want a filling only because of the toxic materials used and the long jeverity of them. Someone please advise what should I do?

Teeth will certainly grow back. Society has been conditioned to brush with Floride toothpaste. Floride retards the natural function or process of the mouth.

I chipped my from 2 teeth while doing a double clap pushup ( I know it's pretty stupid ) . Anyways I am also a sungazer and the chipped part is already starting to regrow after 3 weeks since it chipped off . I guess it's coz of the increased vitamin d intake which is helping to reminiralise my broken teeth . But anyways it is working and it growing back . So if u were u,I'd consider sungazing .

I chipped off diagonally 1/4 of my front tooth when I was an 8 year old child on a merry go round. The piece was big enough, we found it in the sand. My tooth grew back completely within a few years. These were not baby teeth. 10 years ago at the age of 48, I cracked the top off one of my molar teeth. It has slowly grown back, but is still smaller than original size. At least it does not hurt, and I never went to the dentist. Last week, I broke another tooth on the other side of my mouth. I can feel it is slowly growing back, since the edges are not as sharp, and the pain is gone except when I drink cold water. Yes, teeth do heel themselves, but it takes a very long time. They may not grow back fully when you're older, but they can repair themselves. Every cell in our body regenerates, why can't teeth? I don't buy that enamel does not grow, they grew in when we were young, why could they not grow in or atleast repair themselves when we're older.

In this manner my associate Wesley Virgin's autobiography launches in this SHOCKING AND CONTROVERSIAL VIDEO.

You see, Wesley was in the army-and shortly after leaving-he discovered hidden, "SELF MIND CONTROL" secrets that the government and others used to get anything they want.

These are the exact same methods many celebrities (especially those who "became famous out of nothing") and the greatest business people used to become rich and famous.

You probably know that you utilize only 10% of your brain.

Mostly, that's because the majority of your brain's power is UNTAPPED.

Maybe this conversation has even occurred INSIDE OF YOUR own head... as it did in my good friend Wesley Virgin's head seven years ago, while riding a non-registered, beat-up bucket of a car without a license and with $3 on his debit card.

"I'm very frustrated with living paycheck to paycheck! Why can't I become successful?"

You've taken part in those thoughts, isn't it right?

Your success story is waiting to start. You just need to take a leap of faith in YOURSELF.

That's really because the majority of your brain's power is UNCONSCIOUS.

Perhaps that expression has even taken place INSIDE your own mind... as it did in my good friend Wesley Virgin's mind about seven years back, while riding an unlicensed, beat-up trash bucket of a car without a license and with $3.20 on his bank card.

"I'm absolutely frustrated with living paycheck to paycheck! When will I get my big break?"

You took part in those types of thoughts, right?
